The Transepts of a Church

Transept

The Origin

Transept (New Latin: Transeptum. Trans (across) + saeptum (partition)).
An area set crosswise to the nave in a cruciform (cross-shaped) Church.

The Emotion

This piece is deliberately a bright waltz with the three notes in a bar symbolising the Holy Trinity. I wanted to create the feeling of ballroom dancers waltzing along.

The Connection

When I think of the transept of a Church, I visualise the arms of the cross, where the arms of Jesus once lay. Jesus, risen, now takes us by the arms to dance the way of God. C.S. Lewis delighted in the Psalms saying that they expressed the same delight in God that made David dance.

Pray Psalm 150 and give Praise to God, dancing the way of the Most Holy Trinity.
